Depicts a chasm as seen from below,
with sunlight pouring through the crack in the dark rocks.

"Crazy for Buttons"

A gift of antique buttons and Gwen Marston's
Liberated Quiltmaking inspired this small quilt.

"Out of the Shadow"

Machine pieced, hand appliques and quilted.

As I began to recover from breast cancer surgery,
I felt as if I was coming out of the shadows into life again.

"Piercing the Skin of the Present"

Machine pieced, hand appliqued and quilted.

The title flashed into my mind when I was thinking of those
instants of memory that overtake one sometimes.

"Summer's Lease
1997

metallic threads, cotton/polyester batting.
Machine pieced, appliqued and quilted, fused.

The title is taken from a line in a Shakespearean sonnet:
"and summer's lease has all too short a date."

"Tropical Heatwave"

Inspired by the steamy heat of
a tropical night lit by lightening flashes.
