Project Linus Quilt-A-Thon

TBD

A delivery to Children’s Hospital of 76 quilts took place August 22nd. Another delivery to Children's Hospital of 32 quilts took place October 29th in time for Halloween. Since Canyon started delivering quilts to Altrusa International for Project Linus distribution 733 quilts have been given them. Hand sewing the binding in place at our meetings continues to be popular. On average 15 quilts are available to members each month. The Guild provides thread, needles, and scissors for the hand sewing. At every meeting there are quilts ready for quilting, a variety of quilt kit tops ready for sewing, and packets of fabric waiting to become binding.

On September 11th a delivery of 43 large quilts was made to the Painted Turtle Camp. This completed a year long endeavor starting with a donation of quilt tops that were finished by Quilters throughout San Diego. A tour of the camp was arranged for us when the delivery was made. The facility offers children afflicted with different diseases an opportunity to camp out for a week during the summer. Thanks to all the hand sewing Canyon Quilters who helped to make this donation possible.

A new feature has been added to this page “Patterns”. A few of our charity patterns will be available to you here.

The Quilts and Cuddlies Committee will be scheduling a Quilt-A-Thon soonl. For more information contact Sandi Delman 858-558-7963 (kwiltnkats@earthlink.net).
